Reorganizing of Moventas’ production in Finland proceeding
Moventas has moved forward in the reorganization of its production in Finland. Moventas Santasalo Oy has today presented its production staff an invitation to cooperation negotiations, related to Moventas’ December decision to terminate the Karkkila factory’s lease to end in March 2013.
Moventas Santasalo Ltd, active in Jyväskylä and Karkkila, decided in December to terminate its lease in the Karkkila factory to end on 31 March, 2013. Lease of the separate building related to housing production will be continued until 12 March, 2023. Moventas is exploring possibilities of transferring its Karkkila-based industrial gear manufacturing to other Moventas production sites, as well as outsourcing its housing machining operations. Manufacturing of the Karkkila factory is planned to be gradually discontinued by the end of 2012.
- When deciding the most optimal production place for the product or project at hand, we will mainly focus on the customer point of view – production site will be whichever one is the most rational choice for the customer. This benefits us in addition the customer, reminds President & CEO of the Moventas companies, Jukka Jäämaa .
Due to the termination of the Karkkila factory lease and the transfer of its production, Moventas Santasalo Oy will start cooperation negotiations concerning its production staff on 20 February, 2012. Representatives of its production staff have been presented with the invitation today. Duration of the negotiations will be six weeks at most, unless otherwise agreed during negotiations.
The negotiations concern 171 people out of the 224 people employed in Karkkila. Moventas Santasalo Oy’s sales, engineering, R&D and administrative staff (53 people) are not included in the negotiations. Moventas will also take into account other arrangements than redundancies as part of the help it offers in redeployment.
For Karkkila’s white collar staff, i.e. the sales, engineering, R&D and administrative staff of Moventas’ Industrial Gears business area, new premises will be sought during this spring from within the commuting area.
- Transferring production is a major change, in which ensuring customer satisfaction and careful attendance to human resources issues are our highest priorities. Our industrial gears production is important business to us, the continuity of which must be guaranteed, Jäämaa stresses.
